CHANDIGARH : The Sudanese Ambassador, Mr. Abdalmahmood Abdalhaleem Mohammad, on Monday called for stronger trade and economic ties between Sudan and Haryana.
During his talks with the Haryana Finance Minister, Mr. Sampat Singh, and the Chief Secretary, Mr. A.N. Mathur, here, Mr. Mohammad recounted the cordial relations between Sudan and India, which were "rooted in history and had always been warm and amicable".
Mr. Mohammad evinced keen interest in exploring areas of possible tie-ups with Haryana especially in the fields of agriculture and information technology.
Citing some similarities with Haryana, he said that the main crops grown in Sudan were cotton and sugarcane, which were also grown in Haryana.
He hoped that a delegation comprising of farmers, researchers and scientists from Sudan could visit Haryana in near future and witness the technological advancements being made in the agriculture sector here. PTI
